Understanding Delivery Zones

A delivery zone represents a geographic region that you ship to. Each zone has its own base delivery cost, VAT settings, and available speed tiers. Common examples include:

  • UK Mainland – England, Scotland, and Wales.
  • Northern Ireland & Highlands – Areas with higher courier surcharges.
  • Europe – EU and non-EU European countries.
  • Rest of World – All other countries.

You can create as many zones as you need to match your actual shipping capabilities and pricing.

Creating a New Zone

  1. Click the Add Delivery Zone button at the top of the Delivery settings page.
  2. Enter a Zone Name. Choose a clear, descriptive name that your team will recognise (e.g. “UK Mainland”).
  3. In the Countries section, select the countries that belong to this zone. You can search for countries by name or scroll through the alphabetical list. Tick each country to include it.
  4. Set the Base Delivery Cost. This is the starting price a customer will see for delivery to this zone before any speed-tier markups are applied.
  5. Click Save Zone to create it.

Editing an Existing Zone

Click on any zone in the list to open its settings. You can change the name, add or remove countries, and adjust the base cost. Click Save to apply your changes.

Enabling and Disabling Zones

Each zone has an Enabled toggle. When a zone is disabled, customers in those countries will not see delivery options during checkout. This is useful for temporarily suspending shipping to a region (for example, during holiday closures or supply chain disruptions) without deleting the zone configuration.

Zone Priority and Ordering

If a country appears in more than one zone, the system uses zone priority to determine which zone applies. Zones listed higher in the list have higher priority.

To reorder zones, drag and drop them using the handle icon on the left side of each zone row. The topmost zone takes precedence. For example, you might have “Northern Ireland & Highlands” above a broader “UK Mainland” zone so that customers in Northern Ireland are matched to the correct pricing.

How Zones Appear to Customers

When a customer enters their delivery address during checkout, the system automatically matches their country to the appropriate zone and displays the corresponding delivery cost and speed options. The zone name itself is not shown to customers — they simply see the calculated delivery price and available speed tiers.

Tips for Zone Configuration

  • Start with broad zones and create narrower ones only where pricing differs significantly.
  • Review your courier invoices periodically to ensure your base costs reflect actual shipping expenses.
  • If you only ship domestically, you can create a single zone for your country and leave all others uncovered. Customers from uncovered countries will see a message that delivery is not available to their location.
